Sample Questions and Follow-up Questions for the Search Bar#

Some of our users have asked for ideas on how to get started with the Search bar. Below are sample questions and prompts to help you begin analyzing your investigation materials.

These are starting points. Once you receive results, keep going. Ask follow-up questions, request clarification, try different formats, or dig deeper into specific findings. The AI works best when you iterate and refine based on what you discover.

Questions for Searching All Documents#

Harassment, Discrimination, Bullying, Ethics Violations, Grooming, Other Workplace Misconduct:

  • Identify all communications between [Subject Name] and [Complainant Name] and summarize the content of these interactions.
  • Find any documented complaints, reports, or concerns raised about [Subject Name]'s behavior prior to this incident.
  • Identify witnesses who may have observed interactions between the parties or who are mentioned in relation to the alleged incidents.
  • Search for any communications where [Subject Name] discusses the complainant or makes comments about protected characteristics (gender, race, age, disability, etc.).
  • Find all documentation of the complainant's work performance, attendance, or behavioral changes during or after the alleged incidents.
  • Identify any patterns of similar complaints or concerns involving the same subject across different complainants or time periods.
  • Locate any retaliatory actions, changes in work assignments, or disciplinary measures taken against the complainant after they reported the incident.
  • Find communications or documents that show the company's response to the initial complaint, including who was notified and what actions were taken.
  • Search for any evidence of the subject attempting to delete, conceal, or alter communications or documents relevant to the investigation.

Questions for Fraud and Conflicts of Interest Cases#

  • Identify all financial transactions, approvals, or vendor relationships involving [Subject Name] and flag any transactions that fall outside normal patterns or exceed typical amounts.
  • Find any documentation of undisclosed relationships between [Subject Name] and vendors, clients, or other employees, including personal communications, shared addresses, or family connections.
  • Locate all expense reports, reimbursement requests, and supporting documentation submitted by [Subject Name] during [time period] and identify any irregularities or missing receipts.

Questions for Searching Interview Files#

  • Compare witness accounts of [specific incident] and identify consistencies and discrepancies in their descriptions of what occurred, when it occurred, and who was present.
  • Identify all witnesses who corroborate the complainant's account versus those who support the subject's version of events.
  • Extract all statements where witnesses describe the workplace culture, management's response to complaints, or prior incidents involving similar behavior.
  • Find all instances where interview subjects claim they cannot recall specific details or refuse to answer questions, and note the context.
  • Identify any witnesses who describe observing changes in the complainant's demeanor, work performance, or attendance around the time of the alleged incidents.
  • Show me all statements where witnesses describe their direct observations of the subject's behavior toward the complainant or others.
  • Find every mention of [specific date/event] across all interviews and compare how different witnesses describe what happened.
  • Identify any witnesses who mention feeling uncomfortable, unsafe, or concerned about reporting issues in the workplace.
  • Extract all statements where witnesses discuss the subject's general reputation, behavior patterns, or treatment of subordinates or colleagues.
  • Find instances where witnesses describe being told not to discuss the incident, feeling pressured, or experiencing retaliation for speaking up.
  • Identify all witnesses who mention prior knowledge of the complainant's concerns before the formal complaint was filed.
  • Show me all statements about company policies, training, or reporting procedures and whether witnesses knew how to report concerns.
  • Find all mentions of alcohol, social events, or after-hours interactions where alleged incidents occurred or inappropriate behavior was observed.
  • Identify any contradictions between what the subject said in their interview versus what witnesses report observing.
  • Extract all emotional or behavioral reactions witnesses describe observing in either the complainant or subject during or after alleged incidents.
  • Find all statements where witnesses discuss power dynamics, fear of consequences, or concerns about career impact related to this matter.
  • Show me which witnesses claim they were never aware of any issues versus those who admit they had concerns but didn't report them.
  • Identify any witnesses who describe similar patterns of behavior by the subject toward multiple individuals.
  • Find all instances where witnesses provide specific dates, times, locations, or other corroborating details that can be verified against other evidence.
  • Extract statements where witnesses describe any attempts by the subject or others to influence their testimony or discourage them from participating in the investigation.

Follow-Up Questions to Check for Completeness#

  • Did you review all the documents/interviews in your analysis? List any files you didn't include and why.
  • What information am I missing? Identify any gaps in the evidence or areas that need more documentation.
  • Show me what you didn't include in your previous response. Were there any relevant findings you left out?
  • List all documents/interviews that mention [topic/person/incident] that you haven't summarized yet.
  • Are there any conflicting accounts or evidence you didn't mention in your summary?
  • Review all files again and tell me if there's anything significant I should know that wasn't in your first response.
  • What additional questions should I be asking based on what you've found so far?

Pro tip: If you suspect the AI summarized instead of being exhaustive, try saying "Be more comprehensive" or "Don't summarize. Show me everything you found" or "List every single instance of [X] across all files, not just examples."

Feel free to adapt these questions to your specific investigation details. The more specific you are with names, dates, and circumstances, the more targeted your results will be.
