Why AI Analysis References Only Some Documents (And How to Get More Complete Coverage)#

Why does the AI only reference a few documents in my report analysis?

Here's a quick explanation of how our AI prioritization works and how to ensure more comprehensive document analysis.

How Document Analysis Works#

The AI uses smart prioritization. Instead of creating an overwhelming output from every document, the system:

  • Scans your complete document set
  • Ranks content by relevance to your request
  • Presents the most pertinent information first

Your other documents aren't ignored—they're ranked lower but remain accessible for targeted analysis.

Three-Step Strategy for More Comprehensive Analysis#

1. Start with Broad Instructions#

Begin with general requests to see what the AI identifies as most critical.

Example: "Prepare a complainant credibility assessment based on an analysis of all the evidence."

Result: An overview of the highest-ranked relevant information. The quality depends on how specific your instruction is. You requested "all evidence," but the AI analyzed 4 sources.

2. Identify What's Missing#

Compare the AI's analysis against your case knowledge to spot gaps.

Key questions:

  • Which important documents weren't referenced?
  • Are critical witness statements or communications missing?
  • Does this match what I know about the case?

Example: You know there's a relevant performance review that wasn't included in the AI's analysis.

3. Target Specific Documents#

Method A - Natural Language Request: "Include the complainant's performance review in your credibility analysis. Analyze for corroboration, consistency, and potential motive to fabricate."

If Method A doesn't get you there, try Method B.

Method B - Direct File Selection:

  • Press Shift + @ to open the file dropdown
  • Select the specific document
  • Add targeted instructions: "Include @Alaina-PerformanceReview in your credibility analysis. Analyze for corroboration, consistency, and motive to fabricate."

Think of It This Way#

You have a research assistant that starts broad, then goes deeper wherever you direct. Keep guiding with more detail to get the output you need.
