Report
The Report tab lets you draft sections of a final investigation report using AI. The report substantiates or invalidates an allegation.
Report Writing
This tutorial shows how to use AI to write sections of a case report.
Navigate to your Cases
Go to the Cases page by clicking Cases
in the left navigation bar. Select a case by hovering over its row and clicking Open
. If you’re a first-time user, a sample case is provided.
Go to the Report Tab
Click the Report tab. Here you’ll see the investigation report for the case.
Tell the AI to Write Something
Add an instruction for the AI.
Highlight your instruction. A popup appears—click AI. For example:

Generate and Accept
The AI Instruction is embedded into the Document. Click Generate
to generate Report content based on the instruction. Click Accept
to insert the generated text.
Citations
AI-generated report sections include citations like [DocId]
. Hover over a citation to see details or click it for more information.

@ Autocomplete
Type @
in the Reports tab to reference documents. A list appears to help you tell the AI which documents to focus on.

For example:
Compare @Notes of Interview - Kevin Smith.docx
and @Notes_of_Interview - Alaina Joans.docx
. Flag inconsistencies in their statements.
The output will cite these @
documents as needed.

Report Templates
When you click the Templates
button on the Reports, you can find example instructions to generate different sections of reports,
including:
- Background
- Conclusion
- Credibility Assessment
- Interview Summaries
- List of Exhibits
- Scope of Investigation

You can use these as an initial starting point and modify them to fit your case needs.
Creating a New Report Template
Anytime you run an AI Report Generation instruction, click the Save
button in the
AI Report Generation
box to save the instruction as a template for future use.
If the AI Report Generation
editor is using an existing template, you can either Save
to overwrite the current template or Save As
to create a new one.
Using a Report Example
If you want a section drafted in a specific writing structure, you can provide a Report Example within your AI Report instructions to help guide the output.
In order to add a Report Example, open a Report instruction box and click the + EXAMPLE
button.

This will add the following example box where you can enter your example.

Our AI will use your example as a reference for its own output. An example for a Background section could be something like:
The investigation was initiated on or about [Month, 00, 0000], when the [company] first received the complaint from [describe what event or contact triggered the investigation].
The subject of this investigation, [First Last], is a [racial identity] [gender identity] who has been employed by [company name] since [Month 00, 0000]. [First Last] currently holds the title [Job Title] and reports to [Job Title].
All activities of the investigation, including interviews, document reviews, and report drafting were conducted in the months of [Month Year] through [Month Year].
You can enter an example like this into the example box and our AI will try to adhere to it when generating report output.
Note: the Report Example must be consistent with your AI Report instruction. If the instruction and example are in contract, then it can lead to lower quality output.
Report Behavior
To ensure consistent AI report drafting, you can define Report Behavior—a set of rules that apply to all AI instructions and templates. You can think of Report Behavior as a prompt that is pre-pended to your Report instructions.
For example, if you want the AI to always refer to case participants as “Complainant”, “Respondent”, or “Witness”, you can set this as a Report Behavior.
To customize Report Behavior, open a Case, click the ...
Settings button next to the case name (top-left corner), and select Edit Report Behavior.
This opens a popup where you can define your preferred guidelines.

TensorCase lets you set Report Behavior at both the Global and Case levels.
- Global Report Behavior applies to all instructions across your entire organization.
- Current Investigation Report Behavior applies only to the current case.
For example, a Report Behavior prompt for the previous scenario could be:
Refer to the participants as Respondent, Complainant, or Witness, rather than their names.
After setting the either of the Report Behavior, click Submit
. This now applies the Report Behavior across all future AI instructions based on the level.
Note: only set up Report Behavior for preferences that you want consistently across your AI Report instructions. If an AI Report instruction has language that overrides or is in contrast with the Report Behavior that’s set, then it can lead to lower quality output.
